Mir (or in Russian the name of the channel: Мир) is a multi-national public television broadcaster that broadcasts programs in Russian and features programming from all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Mir TV channels introduce viewers to the history and modern lives of former Soviet Union countries and establish cultural, economic, and social ties. Mir TV was banned from Uzbekistan in October 2014. It also stopped broadcasting in Turkmenistan the next month. It switched to the 16/9 aspect ratio in March 2015. The Mir broadcast in high-definition HD began on September 9, 2018. It has facilitated interviews of leaders from CIS countries to date.
